To set the record straight - there is no "Marion Dam" at Tennant Creek. There is however, a "Mary Ann Dam" (known as Tingkkarli to the Warumungu traditional owners and native title custodians) situated just through the gap north of the town. Construction commenced in 1979 and Mary Ann Dam was opened by local MLA (and later NT Chief Minister) Ian Tuxworth in 1981.

It is almost impossible to keep count on how many iterations of the CLP government (under coup victim Terry Mills from August 2012 to March 2013) and Adam Giles (from March 2013 to date) - the ABC is today reporting the tally at fifteen but others are pitching sixteen, so I'll go for the higher number until proven otherwise.
Strider will be missed by an enormous network of friends, students and fellow campaigners across the Northern Territory, Australia and indeed the world. Strider passed away on Tuesday night in his home in the Solar Village, Humpty Doo, surrounded by loved ones after a long journey with cancer and associated illnesses. He dealt with this journey over the last year with the same dignity and grace in which he lived his full and purpose filled life.
